Athletes Caring Together
ACT (Athletes Caring Together) is a partnership between the athletic community in Northwest Louisiana and the Friendship House ministry employed by Community Renewal International.
The Friendship House is a safer haven in high poverty, high crime inner city neighborhoods, a place where children and youth can feel safe and loved. In target neighborhoods in Shreveport and Bossier City where the Friendship Houses are located, there has been an average droop in major crime of 49.5%. Over 3,000 children and teens have been helped through the Friendship House programs. Youth and adults alike have earned their Graduate Equivalent Diploma (GED) through the Adult Renewal Academy, located in the Friendship Houses. Through the Friendship House Initiative, we are seeing profound positive changes in these neighborhoods.
ACT involves professional athletes, other athletes, sports enthusiasts, and sports media representatives in Northwest Louisiana who are coming together to help fund the day to day operations of the Friendship House Initiative in these distressed neighborhoods. Additionally, some members of ACT will become valuable and much needed role models for these children and youth. By providing financial support for the operation of the Friendship House Initiative and becoming role models and mentors for our inner city children and youth, ACT will make our community a better place for all of us to live, work, and recreate.
And we will have some fun by gathering together during the year, renewing old friendships and making new ones, breaking bread together, telling war stories, and sharing the many experiences that each of us will have as we serve our children and youth.
Athletes Caring Together (ACT) is an LLC (Limited Liability Corporation) operating within the Community Renewal International 501(c)3 umbrella. You can make your financial contribution directly to ACT and you will receive a tax receipt letter. We hope that you will prayerfully and sincerely consider a recurring pledge to help perpetuate this vital work.
We all know that many children and youth look up to athletes. You can be a valuable role model and positive influence in the lives of these children and youth, and at the same time find meaning in your own life.
